It seemed like winter lasted forever and once the wildflowers began popping up here in KY, I headed down to the Red River Gorge to find a few. These little fellows are called Dutchman’s Breeches. These interesting flowers like limestone regions and Kentucky is in no short supply! Unlike many wildflowers, Dutchman’s Breeches, are not known to have any medicinal value. The Creator must have made them just for our viewing pleasure! As St. Basil the Great said in “The Germination of the Earth”, “I want creation to penetrate you with so much admiration that wherever you go, the least plant may bring you the clear remembrance of the Creator . One blade of grass or one speck of dust is enough to occupy your entire mind in beholding the art with which it has been made.” These tiny flowers were shot with a Hasselblad 50mp camera and a few extension tubes in order to get close up enough.
